Family and community volunteers are welcome and appreciated!
Children whose families are involved in their education are more likely to achieve higher levels of academic success and develop advanced social skills. Plus, volunteering at Toki will not just help your child, but also advance the success of all Toki students.
There are many ways to volunteer your time and resources at Toki. You may work through the PTO, contact your child's teacher, or simply attend performances and events to model for your child that school is important and you respect education.

TUTORS NEEDED!
Schools of Hope is the Madison area’s most sustained effort in eliminating the achievement gap amongst middle school students. As a program that functions primarily on volunteer support, we are presently seeking volunteers who would be willing to spend one hour a week with a student, between the hours of 7:45 AM and 3:45 PM, tutoring in math and basic literacy. Although it is only one hour out of your week, it is an hour that the students can look forward to for the extra support they need to succeed.
Schools of Hope is still actively recruiting to fill at least 80 regular volunteer tutors for Toki Middle School. This tutoring program has already begun, with members of the community, including UW-Madison students, coming to help out with our after-school Homework Clubs as well as tutor kids during their Study Skills period. So that you as a volunteer do not feel overwhelmed, you will be connected with one of two Schools of Hope employees who work full-time at Toki. They will give you all the training you need, including your very own tutoring handbook that provides tips to helping motivate reluctant learners.
Please, take some time to consider volunteering as a tutor this school year. The benefits are endless: contributing to the Madison youth community, providing leadership and guidance to students who often lack the direction from home, encouraging post-secondary education or other vocational training, showing the value of hard work, etc. Who knows, you’ll probably make a new friend and have a whole lot of fun in the process!
For more information about how you can get involved with a student, contact Ariana Hauck (MSCR-Toki Coordinator) at 204-4778.
